Jugs Sting-Free Maximum Velocity Light-Weight Dimple Baseball – Dozen
This is the light one. It measures a full 9 in. across but weighs 3.5 oz. against the 5 oz. of a regulation baseball, and Jugs states that the lighter ball adds up to 5 mph to high-velocity batting practice, in the 80 mph and higher range. That is the whole reason it exists. It is orange, sold by the dozen or by the 48-ball bucket.
The cover is dimpled, the same as the standard Sting-Free machine ball, so it feeds and releases the same way. The light-weight Sting-Free formula keeps it from stinging hands even at those higher machine speeds, and it will not damage bats, which is why it is the ball Jugs points wood-bat leagues toward. For regulation 5 oz. batting practice, the Sting-Free Dimple Ball Baseball is the same cover at full weight. Both run in the Jugs PS50 Pitching Machine.
