Jugs 14-Softball Lite-Flite Feeder

Jugs publishes one number that decides how this feeder behaves: a ball every 6 seconds. Fourteen Lite-Flite softballs sit in the drum, one drops into the Lite-Flite Machine every six seconds, and the round runs for 84 seconds without anyone touching it. That interval is fixed in the manufacturer’s specification, and Jugs publishes no way to change it, so the whole practical question is what a coach builds around a six-second clock.

Everything else about the feeder is short to state. It is 15 pounds of durable lightweight steel. It attaches directly to the Jugs Lite-Flite Machine with no tools. It needs no power of its own, because one power source runs both the machine and the Lite-Flite Feeder. Jugs lists the product as the 14-Ball Softball Lite-Flite Feeder and restricts it to Lite-Flite Softballs. Weight aside, Jugs publishes no dimensions for it, and this page does not invent any.

What the Feed Interval Actually Decides

All five Jugs feeders publish the same interval. This page is where that number gets worked through, because on a 14-ball drum it is the number that shapes the round.

?Six Seconds, Published as One FigureJugs states that the feeder releases a pitch every 6 seconds. That is the whole published specification for its timing: no range, no dial, no faster or slower setting. Treat it as a constant when you plan a session. Six seconds is the gap between the ball leaving the machine and the next one being on its way, which is roughly the tempo of a pitcher working quickly with nobody on base.No adjustment published?Fourteen Balls Is Eighty-Four SecondsMultiply the two published figures and a full drum runs 84 seconds, or ten pitches a minute. That is the length of one round before somebody reloads. It is worth knowing before you buy: fourteen swings is a set, not an afternoon, and a coach running a long session either collects balls between rounds or keeps a second bucket at the machine. The 84-second figure is arithmetic on Jugs’ two numbers, not a published specification.10 pitches a minute⏯The Same Gap, Every PitchA person feeding a machine by hand varies the gap between balls without meaning to. The drum does not vary. Every pitch arrives on the same six-second beat, so a hitter working on a load and a stride gets the same amount of time to reset before each one. The consistency comes from the mechanism, and it is the reason a feeder gets bought for a machine that already works.Fixed interval⚖The Same Part, a Different DrumJugs builds two Lite-Flite feeders, and they are close relatives. Both weigh 15 pounds, both are durable lightweight steel, both attach to the Lite-Flite Machine with no tools, and both release a pitch every 6 seconds. The difference is the drum: 14 Lite-Flite softballs here, 18 Lite-Flite baseballs on the other. Buy the one that matches the ball your program throws.14 or 18 balls

Session planning

Fourteen Swings, Then Reload

Plan the practice around the drum and it comes out clean. Fourteen Lite-Flite softballs is one round of fourteen swings across 84 seconds, which is close to what a hitter can take before the swing starts to get lazy. Reload while the hitter walks off the tension, then go again. Two hitters alternating rounds means one is always resting while the other works, and neither of them is feeding the machine. For a longer block, a second bucket of Lite-Flite softballs beside the Lite-Flite Machine keeps the reload to a few seconds.

Five Jugs Ball Feeders

Every Jugs feeder releases a ball every 6 seconds. What separates them is the machine they bolt to, the ball they take and how many they hold. This is the softball drum for the Lite-Flite Machine.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Jugs states the feeder releases a pitch every 6 seconds. No adjustment range is published, so plan around six seconds as a constant. With 14 softballs in the drum, a full fill runs 84 seconds, a figure we get by arithmetic on the two published numbers. Jugs does not state it.14 softballs. The baseball version of the same part, the 18-Baseball Lite-Flite Feeder, holds 18. Both weigh 15 pounds and attach to the same machine. The Jugs Lite-Flite Machine, and Jugs names no other. It attaches directly, with no tools required. For a Carousel Feeder that fits the BP1, BP2, SP3, BP3, mini3, MVP, PS50 or Changeup machines, see the Jugs Carousel Feeder and its eight machine-specific versions.No. Jugs states that only one power source is needed to run both the Lite-Flite Machine and the Lite-Flite Feeder. Jugs does not publish a voltage figure for the feeder itself.Lite-Flite Softballs only. Jugs states that restriction without exception. Lite-Flite Softballs are sold by the dozen and are a separate purchase from the feeder.15 pounds, in durable lightweight steel. Jugs publishes no dimensions for the feeder and no folded size, so if you need to know whether it clears a particular door or storage shelf, measure the machine it mounts to.The feeder. Jugs does not list anything else as included. The Lite-Flite Machine is sold separately and so are the balls. We recommend one. A feeder sits alongside the machine and takes batted balls in the same line of fire, so a Lite-Flite protective screen protects both. Note the provenance: this is our recommendation, not a statement on the current Jugs product page.Choose by ball, not by capacity. This feeder takes Lite-Flite Softballs only; the 18-Baseball Lite-Flite Feeder takes Lite-Flite Baseballs only. Everything else about the two is the same: 15 pounds, steel, no tools, one shared power source, a pitch every 6 seconds.
